The fundamental concept behind psychotherapy comes from the famous Greek saying inscribed at the Temple of Dephi:
KNOW THYSELF
By knowing ourselves better, we are able to engage in the world more honestly and productively and cope with our difficulties better. This enables us to recognise and acknowledge what we can control, while also learning to acknowledge and accept what we can’t.
Through therapy we learn to tolerate life’s ups and down better while learning to use every day to enhance our self-knowledge, improve our relationships, give up old habits and repetitions that no longer work for us, and give our lives meaning and satisfaction. Psychotherapy can have knock-on effects through all realms of our lives having a lasting and profound resonance.
Over the years I have developed a psychotherapeutic methodology that I believe works. If you would like a sense of my experience in this field, have a look at the “About Me” page. For more information on the theory behind the practice, see “My Methods”.
